Massachusetts Row

Dartmouth College

Massachusetts Row is a row of three residence halls designed in 1912 by Charles Rich and located in the historic center of the Dartmouth College campus. The feasibility study for the renovation of Massachusetts Row proposes two conceptual schemes which enhance the public and private spaces of the residence halls; upgrade the exterior building envelopes; upgrade mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems; and comply with current building and ADA accessibility requirements. The study provides several alternatives to allow for the comparison of construction costs and of the short and long term costs associated with increased energy efficiency. Additionally, the study presents a three phase construction plan that allows for an efficient construction process and limits the loss of use of student beds during each phase of construction.
